Gilles Street Market originated in 2008 in the heart of Adelaide at the Gilles Street Primary School. Heralded as Adelaide’s original fashion and design marketplace, Gilles Street has provided a platform for emerging and established designers to showcase their work, whilst also encouraging an ethical environment for pre-loved/vintage sellers.
Now it has a new name and a new home. Called ‘Gilles at the Grounds’ it is located just across from the Farmers Market at the Adelaide Showgrounds in the old brick dairy-house.
With soaring ceilings, it is a vast space, and just as well, because there is a lot to fit in including; vintage and pre-loved clothing, accessories, homewares, art, and plenty of mouth-watering street-food.
It also boats a large outdoor area with special zones for children, a huge glamping tent, and live music. It’s hip, fun and eclectic and you never know what treasures you might find there. The fun is all in the hunt!
But if you’d rather sell goods than buy them, Gilles loves artisan creatives. You don’t have to be an established brand, just have a cool idea and you could be selling there too! With the thousands of people that go to Gilles, it’s fantastic exposure.
The Gilles at the Grounds markets are usually held twice a month but check their website for the full calendar.
