Ardrossan with Sam ‘Sauce’ Jacobs

Adelaide Crows Ruckman Sam ‘Sauce’ Jacobs shows us around his hometown of Ardrossan on the Yorke Peninsula.  Standing at over 2 meters tall Sam is Ardrossan born and bred and shares with us how this quiet town provides the perfect escape from the all-consuming nature of professional footy and city life.

Sam kicks off his tour with a visit to the look out. On a clear day you can see all the way to Adelaide, and in the other direction you get a great view of the local Dolomite Mine.

The jetty is also a prominent feature and is our next stop. It’s a popular spot for fishing, especially those angling for King George Whiting and Blue Swimmer Crabs.  As a bonus to the ample seafood up for grabs and wonderful views of the dramatic Red Cliffs, it’s clear that Sam finds a sense of calm here.

The next stop on Sauce’s tour is the golf course where he enjoys an occasional round. According to the locals it’s the best sand scrapes course on the Peninsula.

You’ll find Ardrossan less than 2 hours from Adelaide on Yorke Peninsula – so why not take Sam’s advice and plan a trip to this peaceful seaside haven and perhaps discover some of the town’s interesting history along the way. It’s well worth a visit.
