How long’s it been since your family swapped the glow of the iPad for a mesmerizing campfire? Skipped the takeaway and cracked out the damper? Well, there’s a big slice of adventure waiting for you just 20 minutes from Adelaide.
We’re at Piccadilly, where the hills are alive – not so much with the sound of music – more so with squeals of delight! We’re at Woodhouse Activity Centre, one of the most exciting places to get a taste of the great outdoors.
It’s not just for the kids… in fact, it’s billed as a destination for everyone aged from 5 to 95. Woodhouse operates 7 days a week, nearly all year round, weather permitting, for anyone who’d like to visit.
The 54-hectare property even boasts a beautiful Manor house that sleeps around 60 people. It’s very popular for weddings and reunions; guests have full access to the adventure activities.
We visited a new addition to Woodhouse: the Labyrinth – a giant split-level maze with just one way through and 17 dead ends. Next, it was on to Challenge Hill. The first activity hub to be built when the property was bought by the Scouts over six decades ago, it’s been updated, and is still one of the favourites.
Even the Adelaide Crows and Port Power players have been through, though we’re not sure if they tried the mousetrap — a very tight squeeze through a dark and winding tunnel!
And that’s just a taste – we haven’t even started on the laser skirmish, the orienteering or the high ropes course! So have a look at the website to see what’s on offer, and how you can book a date with the outdoors!
