South Australia is filled with amazing restaurants, wineries and breweries, but at Victor’s Place, you’ll find all three under one roof. Located in Old Noarlunga, this beautifully restored Woolshed from the 1870s is fast becoming a magnet for locals and tourists alike.
Outside is a grassy outdoor area overlooking the Onkaparinga Valley – while the dining area is open plan with high-beamed ceilings and rustic stone walls.
It’s hard to believe that until recently it was an 1870s woolshed that was literally falling down. But Katherin and Alan Varney (a former winemaker at d’Arenburg for 10 years) knew it could be something special and painstakingly restored it.
The couple divides their duties: the restaurant is Katherine’s domain and the brewery/winery is Alan’s. You’ll often see their kids, Winston and Morris, helping out, too! The talented team in the kitchen has created a modern-Australian menu. You can either enjoy a full sit-down meal or a range of smaller plates for snacking.
At the winery/brewery, they have an open-door policy and even a viewing deck. Here, visitors can watch what is going on behind-the-scenes, where the makers are happy to explain what they are doing. You might catch them producing a sauv blanc, rose, or Grenache one week – and an IPA, saison, or limited release beer during another.
They even have a hand-cranked canning machine! Just choose your favourite brew and they’ll make you the ultimate roady!
Victor’s Place is open for lunch and dinner five days a week. Drop in for a meal, a casual drink, or a weekend chill-out session with a DJ or live music.
