One of SA’s most iconic wineries that is renowned around the world is Henschke. Six generations strong – this family business has just turned 150 years old.
To celebrate this milestone, the Henschke family isn’t just honouring their past but moving into the future, with a brand new cellar door.
Built in the 1860’s, it’s housed in a beautiful stone building that was once a grain barn on the family property in Eden Valley. After an incredible transformation, it’s now an open and modern space – where you can enjoy a tasting at the bar – or kick back in one of the seating areas. It also features a mini-museum.
The man who started it all was Johaan Christian Henschke – who came to South Australia as a refugee from Prussia in 1841. It’s such a fascinating story they wrote a book about it called – ‘Hill of Grace -150 Years of Henschke – Under Southern Skies’.
To try a range of Henschke wines, their cellar door has free tastings. Or you can sample their more iconic wines, including their famous ‘Hill of Grace’ shiraz, in a private tasting as part of their VIP Tour.
