If you haven’t been to Chinatown lately – it’s time you did because there have been some exciting changes. After being closed for renovations until recently, Chinatown Plaza on Moonta Street in the heart of the city – is just about the most glamorous food-court you’ll find. With lanterns, gorgeous wooden tea-huts, and fun design details everywhere you look – its transformation was the vision of Irena Zhang who is passionate about making Adelaide more vibrant.
As well as offering authentic Chinese dishes from different regions, your tastebuds can take a culinary trip around other countries in Asia, like Thailand and Malaysia. Open-plan, you can watch the chefs preparing your dishes fresh and from scratch – right in front of you.
The venue is also family-friendly so you don’t have to worry about taking the kids – and for business people or students who need some screen-time, there are even USB ports.
To see the new plaza, there is no better time to go than Saturday February the 9th for the Chinatown Adelaide Luna New Year Street Party. There will be live stage performances, music, dancing and an incredible choice of delicious food and drink. The celebrations kick off at noon and go well into the night. Everyone is welcome and it’s a free event so why not go and paint the town red?
