Peterborough Steamtown

Peterborough is a historic railway town on the Heritage Rail Trail – a self-drive tour that follows the same route as steam engines carrying ore from Broken Hill to Port Pirie. It was once the busiest rail center in the world but when it finally had to close, it bravely reinvented itself as a tourist destination.

Kelly visits the Steamtown Heritage Rail Centre where many old engines and carriages are on display. She sees the newly opened virtual reality exhibition and finally, the award-winning Sound and Light show. It’s a trip back in time that brings back memories for many people who loved the age of steam.
