Did you know that more than two million Aussies have a boat licence, with one in four of us having access or doing some sort of boating each year? There’s no denying it, we love the water! And there are a number of exciting ways you and your family can get amongst it and enjoy life on the water!
We’re lucky to have so many beautiful waterways here in South Australia and we definitely make the most of them, with tow sports like water-skiing, wakeboarding and now wakesurfing – one of our most popular boating activities.
It’s fair to say water sports have changed over the past couple of decades… and so have boats! It’d be tricky to pull off stunts with just an old outboard motor – you need some serious oomph! And boats these days boast all the bells and whistles!
Time out on the water is an activity the whole family can enjoy as Cameron Myles from Elite Ski Boats explains:
“For me, I’ve got two young kids, it’s the family fun. I could go out and buy a motorbike, and that’s just for me. Whereas if I buy a boat, it’s for the whole family.”
The Myles family isn’t alone. In Australia, there are almost one million registered boats plus a further 300,000 passive crafts – like kayaks and stand-up paddle boards.
