In 1957 a recent immigrant who could barely speak any English, Lucia Rosella, opened Adelaide’s first pizza bar in the Adelaide Central Market. At the time, Italian food such as pizza and spaghetti wasn’t even heard of, and it was a struggle to get people to try it.
Today Lucia’s daughters and grandchildren keep her legacy alive by still serving her traditional recipes with lashings of heart and soul. It’s a recipe that has seen Lucia’s become entrenched into the lives of South Australians for 60 years!
